How to give your driving school students theory test material on their phones
Your students revise for the theory test on their phones, on the bus or on a break at work. But the road signs summary is in a PDF you sent a month ago, the tests on one website, the videos on another, and the licensing paperwork nowhere. Here's how to give them everything in one link.
Everything a learner needs, in one place
- Theory: the road signs summary, the most common offences and penalties, right-of-way rules.
- Tests: exam-style tests as PDFs and links to official practice tests.
- Videos: manoeuvres, roundabouts, merging and the typical mistakes in the practical test.
- Paperwork: the licensing authority's website, booking the test, what to bring.
- Locations: the test centre and test routes on Google Maps.
The most used items — say, the road signs infographic or the most common test mistakes — get pinned to the top.
Why it beats sending PDFs on WhatsApp
- Each new student gets the link or scans the QR code at reception and has everything from day one.
- When something changes (a rule, a new test), you update it once and it reaches everyone.
- It's your material, under your school's name: you're not sending them to someone else's app.
Channel or Collaborative: which to use
Channel
one person publishes, the rest view
The driving school's Channel
- You publish the material; students can only view it and can't change it.
- One Channel per licence type or per intake.
- When a student passes, you can remove them to keep the list tidy.
Collaborative
everyone adds and edits
A Collaborative collection for instructors
- The school's instructors share material, videos and lesson sheets with each other.
- The good stuff one finds then goes into the students' Channel.
How to set it up in five minutes
- Install Linkalia and create a collection named after the group.
- Create the categories. For example: Road signs, Tests, Videos, Paperwork, Locations.
- Add material with Share from any app: PDFs, Word files, photos, YouTube videos, links or Google Maps locations.
- Tap the collection's name to open Collection info and, under Access, pick Channel or Collaborative.
- In the ⋮ menu, tap Share invite link: send it to the WhatsApp group or show the QR code.
Anyone without the app lands on the page to download it for free; no sign-up or email needed. As admin you see who's in the collection and can remove (and readmit) anyone.
See it in the app: Linkalia comes with the example collection “Driving School — Theory Test 2026”. Once installed it's in your library, so you can see how it looks before creating your own.
Frequently asked questions
Do students pay anything?
No. Linkalia is free for people following a Channel. If your school needs more space or more followers, there's the Pro plan.
Can I add my logo?
Each collection can have its own image and icon, so students recognise your Channel in their library.
Does it work offline?
Downloaded documents open offline; links and videos need internet.
